Computing overview.

Welcome to the computing scetion of my site.
I work as a 3rd line windows support engineer for a large(ish) IT outsourcing company. I mainly work on a goverment contract but I do ocasionly get seconded to other contracts.

my main skills are windows infrastructure, ISA web proxys, Scurity, "Stuff" no one else can do, Clustering, drinking tea and not answering my phone.

In my day to day roll of looking after the windows domain I write a lot of scripts. Genraly if I have to do something more then once I will try to script it. Some of the more generic scipts will be published here and will hopefully be of some use to visitors.

My handy scripts and utilitys are writen in DOS and VB6. It will be very unlikely I will update any of these because when I support a new enviroment I tand to not need the older scripts.
I do intend to teach my self VB.net and Powershell at some point but I get very little time at work for my own projects.

The Scripts

Disk Space Monitor (sends an email alert if free HD space drops below a configured level or amount)
Group monitor (monitors members of groups and sends an email alert if a new user is detected)
Cluster Snapshot (takes and applays snap shots of locations of Cluster resource groups)
Server Monitor (Sends an email if a server becomes uncontactable.)

PowerCLI Setup (Stuff I wrap round my PowerCLI scripts to make my life easy)
Find thin disks (Search all Datastores and list all thin VMDKs)
Find SnapShots (Search all VMs and list all snapShots found)
DataStre Monitor (List free space on datastores. If low list all VMs on the datastore)

Here are my DOS and VB "cheat sheets" just a but of text with snippits of code I use a lot. Cant remember the syntex for openig a file in VB... copy, paste. job done.
